2020 Dunes Woman’s Club Holiday Happenings

The holiday season in Beverly Shores is usually very festive with the Dunes Woman’s Club Holiday Marketplace. Sadly, not so much in this year of Covid.19. We are taking a very safe approach and will forego a physical event.

HOWEVER….The Dunes Woman’s Club will be selling greens: wreaths, swags and garland.

In addition, we are seeking donations; as recognition of your generosity for  each ten dollars, you will earn one entry in a drawing for one of three Beverly Shores themed gift baskets donated by the Friends of Beverly Shores, each valued at $250,

Basket descriptions:

Date Night in BS: Martini essentials, puzzle, snacks and throw plus a $50 gift card to Wagner's

Friends at the Beach: Wine, blanket and a $50 gift card to Goblin and Grocer

Game night with Friends: Margarita-making-essentials, games, snacks etc. and a $50 gift card to Fish Camp

Each basket includes: a Dunes Woman’s Club directory and bag, a one year membership for Association of Beverly Shores Residents, a $50 gift certificate to Beverly Shores Depot Museum on-line shop and a “Plants of the Indiana Dunes” book from Beverly Shores Environmental Restoration Group

Greens orders are due November 13   for pick up about November 23. Drawing for the baskets will be on greens delivery day, and baskets will also be that time.

Your support and generosity in this project would be greatly appreciated as proceeds are distributed to food pantries, Pines School, Community House maintenance and other causes to help the community.

Please consider supporting Dunes Woman’s Club with your holiday generosity.

Historical records show that on June 28, 1934  the Chesterton Tribune reported:
“Mrs. Ruth Wollett entertained a group of Beverly Shores ladies last Friday afternoon and the organization of a women’s club was discussed.  Those present were enthusiastic and seemed to believe that a woman’s club was necessary at the present stage of development of this lake shore development.”
The club was finally “officially organized” in 1939.

The club claims Blue and Sand as its colors.

The Mission of The Dunes Woman’s Club is to serve and enhance its local community by:
improving its members through education;
supporting other organizations through donations; and
providing volunteer service for community projects.

DWC meets monthly at noon on the second Thursday of the month at the Community House in Beverly Shores, IN.  There are no meetings in January, July and August.

Dues of $20 are collected on an annual basis in September.

How to join:

Due to Covid-19 we are rethinking our approach to Marketplace 2020.  Watch for our plan after Sept. 1.

The Holiday Marketplace is held the weekend before Thanksgiving.

2019 marked the 62nd Annual Marketplace.
The marketplace is the primary fund raising event for the year.

Items for sale include Holiday greens, craft items, breads, other sweets, frozen soups and casseroles.

Mark your calendar to visit November 23 or 24, 2019 at the Community House, Beverly Shores, IN.

This is a quilt that the club made for the 50th Anniversary of Beverly Shores.
The 42 squares depict the different aspects of life in Beverly Shores and each exhibits the dedication and of a different member of the Dunes Woman’s Club at that time

The quilt hangs in the Administration Building meeting room.

The Community House located on Service Drive just west of the Administration Building is the pride of the Dunes Woman’s Club.

The house serves as the location for the monthly meetings, and the annual Holiday Marketplace in November.

The porch of the house serves as a community library.  Books are available for the taking anytime.  Donations of books in good condition are also welcomed.
