Below are the “Happenings” we have received for April - June.  We are interested in listing the events of all non-profit organizations in Beverly Shores.  We encourage each organization to send specific information to mwmetzcus@yahoo.com so its events can be included in this column.  There will be a lot happening in Beverly Shores in 2008.  So mark your calendar to save these dates, and please check this column every month!

 

APRIL 2008

 

Thursday, April 10              MOSQUITOES!

6:00 p.m.                              Learn about the mosquitoes in Beverly Shores, the health

                                             issues associated with mosquitoes, and what you can do                                                    about it.  Speaker:  Lee Green, Indiana State Department

                                             of Health.  Administration Building.  Event Coordinator:

Sunday, April 13                  DEPOT MUSEUM OPENING

11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.         There will be a display of the Lustron homes.  The first

                                             home was opened in New York City on April 14, 1948. 

                                             There were five Lustron homes in Beverly Shores.  Two still

                                             remain.  Our own American Idol, Leonardo Bicuinas, will

                                             perform “Lustron Blues” at 1:00 p.m.  Event Coordinator:

Sunday, April 20                  DEPOT GALLERY:  2008 SEASON OPENING &                                                         RECEPTION

11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.         The Depot Gallery opens its season with an unveiling of

                                             “S Mermaid” and “X Bear” by international sculptor

                                             Josef Sumichrast and two sculptures by self-taught

                                             Indiana artist Wayne Rice.  There will also be a preview

                                             of the 2008 season’s exhibits.  Event coordinators and new

                                             curators Larry Jensen (874-7871) and Gary Gordon (879-

                                             4516).

Saturday, April 26               ANNUAL BEVERLY SHORES TOWN CLEAN UP

9:30 a.m.                              Join your neighbors in this popular and

                                             important event.  Come to the Admin. Bldg. starting at 9:30

                                             a.m. to sign up for your area to clean up.

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.         A hot dog lunch will be provided by the Dunes Woman’s                                                  Club.

5:30 p.m.                              Smelt fry and barbecue at the beach. (BYOB)  Meet at                                                       Rebora Plaza.  Everyone is invited.  See further                                                                    information in this issue of Sand Tracks.  Event                                                                        Coordinators:  Cindy Kienlen (219-728-1514) and Grace                                                      Budrys.
